Higher Education - Managing Director - MENA Region

Job Description:
The Managing Director will be responsible for business development and project oversight with an emphasis on helping to expand and grow the practice globally. The final candidate will be responsible for selling and delivering a broad range of financial and operational consulting services.

The position will require the individual to conduct business development as well as provide group and direct project oversight where he or she will help Huron win and execute complex, high profile engagements.  The platform at Huron is based upon a culture of collaboration and teaming and as a result this person will be expected to work closely with other senior members of the Higher Education consulting practice to leverage the broad services the practice offers. This person will establish trust with clients through their superior content knowledge across a broad range of complex issues.  In addition to the above responsibilities, the Managing Director will:
  • Lead and grow the Huron Middle East – Higher Education  practice specifically focusing in securing, overseeing, and leading large projects
  • Broadening our work with existing clients to encompass strategy / transformation consulting
  • Developing new clients for Huron in the areas of strategic planning and transformation
  • Deliver superior client service in an effort to augment Huron’s market positioning as the premier Higher Education consulting services firm and aggressively continue to help grow their respective practice;
  • Work in close partnership with other Managing Directors/Directors to capture and maximize revenue opportunities by leveraging the broad array of skills and expertise Huron Middle East offers to clients; 
  • Bring new capabilities to materially enhance and broaden the practice and value that is delivered to Huron clients;
  • Develop and hire professional staff to ensure the highest quality talent and expertise is being provided; Huron’s Higher Education consulting practice has a reputation of delivering the highest quality service to some of the most visible engagements in the industry. This person must fit with the cultural philosophy of having an obsessive focus on quality.
  • Provide leadership in creating/architecting solution sets that fit in strategically with the services of the Higher Education consulting practice.
The location of this position is flexible based on experience.

Job Requirements:
This individual is most likely currently serving as a Managing Partner, Practice Leader, Partner or Vice President within a professional services firm that has an established presence and solid reputation in the Higher Education sector.  He or she will have experience with a broad range of services, and will bring additional credibility to Huron’s practice in the market.
  • He or She will have an excellent reputation and name recognition at senior levels within the industry.  This individual will also have experience delivering high quality work and will have provided exceptional value to clients. The final candidate will have had Extensive strategy work in higher education, corporations, and not-for-profit experience;  selling, delivering and managing highly visible profits consulting engagements where clients have looked to this person to help solve their most complex matters.
In addition, this individual should possess the following attributes:
  • A proven track record in business development of acquiring new clients as well as growing existing relationships through delivering high quality work.
  • Experience in creating and managing relationships at the most senior levels within the higher education sector.
  • Have demonstrated ability to oversee and direct large, complex engagements where superior value is delivered to clients.
  • It is essential that the final candidate be a team player who embraces a culture of collaboration and sharing of relationships. The Higher Education consulting practice offers a wide range of services through providing the top clients in the industry with the professional expertise needed to deliver on highly complex engagements. This person must have a leadership style that fits well with the Huron culture.
The final candidate will be a strong leader and self starter with an excellent track record of generating new business.  He or she will be a team player with a high level of energy and integrity.  This individual must possess strong leadership qualities and excellent communication skills.  In addition the final candidate will be passionate and excited about collaborating to continue to grow and build the valuation practice into a major practice for the firm. 

It is highly preferred that candidates posses undergraduate/advanced degrees, preferably and MBA and have broad understanding of general business concepts and disciplines including finance/accounting. This position will require strong understanding of the impact of Strategy for process improvements. Client relationship experience working with large organizations is also required. Experience working with strategy firms is preferred. Experience in public sector or higher education purchasing is a highly desirable.
