The Network Administrator’s role is to ensure the stable operation and high availability corporate network. This includes planning, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links.
Education/ Skills Required:
•Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent with min. 6 years experience in Network Administration / Management & Customer support.
•Certified Professional in Network & Security Products (CCNA, CCNP, CCSP, MCSA etc.)
•Proficient in TCP/IP networking, LAN/WAN troubleshooting.
•Knowledge of DHCP, DNS, WINS etc.
•Proficient knowledge of Routing, Switching & Firewalls-UTM (Cisco/Juniper products).
•Experience with Security software (IPS , Web Content Filtering & Antispam Solutions), UTM firewalls, network monitoring, etc.
•Must have both Windows 2003/2008 Server administration experience.
•Knowledge of backup and recovery processes.(BackupExec product )
•Ability to adapt quickly to rapidly changing technology.
•Excellent communications (written and oral), customer service and problem solving skills.
•Must have experience administering rights, permissions, and ACLs
•Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills
•Experience with open source and commercial vulnerability assessment tools.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities.
•Implement, and maintain IT Networks & Security solutions including Switches, Routers, firewalls, Internet Security solutions (Web/Mail) and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
•Perform Server Hardware and Windows OS Server 2003 / 2008 Installation, Maintenance, Upgrade & deployment of appropriate security patches, hot fixes, and software updates.
•Daily Monitoring of Event Logs Using Network & Firewall Analyser Tools & provide periodic reporting on Networking & Information Security issues.
•Maintains proper documentation of the network and computing environment.
•Maintains up-to-date knowledge of available and emerging network, security and microcomputer technologies through professional reading, training, education, and participation in professional associations.
•Reviews advisories posted through CERT, NIPC (National Infrastructure Protection Center), Center for Internet Security, SANs and recommend appropriate security improvements .
