Operational Risk Officer-Abu Dhabi

The Role

12 month contract role
Excellent basic salary plus benefits.

Our client, a leading bank in Abu Dhabi is looking to recruit an Operational Risk professional to provide support to risk management and internal control responsibilities. The role is to promote Risk awareness and develop policies, business processes & systems for the risk framework, in particular the identification, assessment, control, monitoring and reporting of risks undertaken within the business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Liaise closely with board directors, investment risk managers, operational managers, Business Development, project teams, Compliance and Internal Audit.
• Provide independent risk perspective on key initiatives, including new products, ventures, outsourcing/off shoring, re-engineering proposals, etc.
• Review/challenge the reporting of business risks to the Risk Committee and Board, thereby providing the business with an independent layer of analysis
• Lead the development of risk modelling capabilities, including stress testing & scenario analysis, enabling the calculation of (Operational) risk capital.
• Manage relationships with other risk professionals, including investment risk managers (Investment Manager Supervisory Team) as well as Compliance and Audit.
• Assist the Fraud Risk Coordinator in ensuring fraud risks are properly considered by the business and fraud response plans prepared.
• Encourage the sharing of best practice and issues resolution across business areas.

Requirements


KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 5 years in risk management at management level (with 3-5 years in an audit role being beneficial).
• Strong, up-to-date experience in operational/enterprise risk management and risk modelling techniques (stress testing & scenario analysis).
• Investment Risk Management experience ideally in relation to collective investment funds, with working knowledge of risk management techniques in relation to derivative instruments (“fair value” pricing, & techniques such as VaR).
• A broad knowledge of risk and control techniques across the risk classes, coupled with a deeper knowledge of specific risks such as information security & fraud risks.
• Good knowledge of the Regulatory challenges facing organisations operating in the retail financial services industry.
• Excellent interpersonal, influencing and written skills
• Good presentation skills (PowerPoint, excel and word)

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Honours degree and/or relevant professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, MBA).
